A clearance markdown is only one sourcing input
Before checkout, match the exact UPC, EAN, model, ASIN, size, color, count, region, bundle, condition, and included pieces to the intended listing. Treat a mismatch as a stop, not as a close-enough comp.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says recalled consumer products cannot be offered for sale. The applicable recall authority depends on the product: FDA, NHTSA, the manufacturer, or another regulator may also need to be checked.
Marketplace approval, restricted-product, dangerous-goods, authenticity, invoice, and condition requirements can be account and item specific. Before checkout, confirm the retailer will issue an itemized receipt and plan to retain it with stronger supply-chain records; a retail receipt may not satisfy every later request.
The calculator uses user-entered sold evidence, unit economics, and a return or price-drop reserve. It does not promise a universal ROI, sell-through rate, approval, authenticity outcome, or documentation acceptance.
- Check the applicable CPSC, FDA, NHTSA, manufacturer, or other recall source before checkout
- Confirm account, category, brand, condition, and dangerous-goods eligibility
- Match the exact listing variation and inspect packaging, seals, expiry, labels, and damage
- Save sourcing documents and use at least three exact sold comps
- Print or copy the decision record for the inventory file

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I check before buying a retail arbitrage item?
Check the retailer, exact product identifier, listing variation, applicable recall sources, marketplace and account eligibility, condition, seals, expiry, dangerous-goods status, receipt plan, current sold comps, fees, shipping, tax, prep cost, risk reserve, and target profit.
Can I sell a recalled clearance item if it looks safe?
No. CPSC says it is unlawful to offer a recalled consumer product for sale. Search the exact product and model before buying or listing it and follow the recall remedy.
Does a retail receipt guarantee Amazon will accept my sourcing documents?
No. Save the itemized receipt, but Amazon documentation requests are case and account specific and may require stronger supply-chain evidence. Verify the current requirement in Seller Central before risking quantity.
How does the retail arbitrage buy ceiling work?
The tool subtracts marketplace fees, seller-paid shipping, prep cost, return or price-drop reserve, and target profit from gross sale proceeds, then backs out acquisition sales tax and rounds the maximum pre-tax shelf price down to the cent.
