Reseller fee tables

What 9 US marketplaces charge sellers, as open data you can download, script against or check by hand. Every rule links to the platform’s own fee page and says when we last checked it. It’s the same fee math our profit calculator runs, and it’s free to use, no signup needed.

The short version

  • 10 fee schedules for 9 marketplaces: eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, Whatnot, Etsy, Vinted and OfferUp. Facebook gets two, shipped and local pickup.
  • Each rule says what it’s charged on (item price, buyer-paid shipping, sales tax), links its source and shows the date we checked it.
  • Whatnot’s commission tiers from Sep 21, 2026 are in, including 0% on the part of an eligible order above $1,500.
  • MIT licensed. Use it in a spreadsheet, a script or your own app. A link back is appreciated, not required.

No fee on local, in-person sales

  • Commission depends on your sales tier and the sale’s category. New sellers start at the Standard tier.
  • Taxes that some places charge on seller fees are not included.

Each percentage fee is worked out in cents and rounded to the nearest cent (half a cent rounds up), separately for each bracket. Fixed fees are added after rounding, and the total is the sum of the rounded parts.

How to use it

From the command line

curl -s https://www.underpriced.app/data/reseller-fees.json \
  | jq '.marketplaces[] | {id, summary, verifiedAt}'

In JavaScript

const table = await fetch('https://www.underpriced.app/data/reseller-fees.json').then((r) => r.json());
const ebay = table.marketplaces.find((m) => m.id === 'ebay');
console.log(ebay.summary, ebay.verifiedAt, ebay.sources[0].url);

With the reseller-fees package

// npm install github:teveksler/reseller-fees
import { fees } from 'reseller-fees';

fees('ebay', 50, { buyerShipping: 8 }).total; // 8.29

The reseller-fees package has no dependencies and reads the same table. Code, issues and pull requests: GitHub.

What’s in the JSON

marketplaces[]
One fee schedule each, with an id, the marketplace, the channel (shipped or local), verifiedAt, sources, notes and its fees.
fees[]
Each fee has a type (percent or fixed), what it’s charged on (basis), a rate or amount, any minimum or condition, the rule in words, and its source.
bases
What each basis means. "order" is the item price plus buyer-paid shipping plus sales tax; eBay, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, Whatnot and Etsy charge at least one fee on it.
categories (eBay)
The final value fee by category. "marginal" brackets charge each slice of the order at its own rate; "whole" brackets charge the whole order at one rate picked by its size.
commission (Whatnot)
Sales tiers by four-week sales, the rate for each category at each tier, and the high-value rule.
rounding
How amounts round to the cent, so you can reproduce every fee to the penny.

What’s not in the tables

  • Optional ads and boosts. eBay Promoted Listings, Etsy Offsite Ads and Depop Boost are left out. They depend on your settings, and Offsite Ads only apply when an ad brings the sale.

  • Account extras. eBay Store subscriptions, below-standard seller surcharges, international and currency conversion fees, and instant-payout charges.

  • Shipping labels. What you pay the carrier isn’t a marketplace fee. Shipping the buyer pays you only matters where a fee is charged on it, and the tables say where.

  • Taxes on fees. Some states and countries charge tax on seller fees. That depends on where you live, so it isn’t here.

  • Other marketplaces and countries. Only US selling for now. Amazon, StockX, GOAT, Grailed and Vestiaire aren’t in yet, because our calculator doesn’t price them and we only publish what it runs.

How we keep it current

  • We re-check every rule against the platform’s own fee page about once a month. The date on each marketplace is the last time we did.
  • When a platform changes a fee, we update our calculator and these tables in the same release, bump the version and add a line to the changelog.
  • A test runs these tables against the calculator in our app on thousands of prices, shipping and tax amounts, categories and tiers. If a single fee differs by a cent, the site doesn’t build.

Changelog

  1. 1.0.0 ·

    • First public release: seller fees for 9 US marketplaces (eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, Depop, Facebook Marketplace, Whatnot, Etsy, Vinted, OfferUp) in 10 fee schedules, with a source link and check date on every row.
    • Includes the Whatnot commission tiers in effect since Sept 21, 2026, and the 0% commission on the part of an eligible order above $1,500.
